Children studing

As humanity reached out to the moon, the mission led to a pathway for new scientific discoveries and innovations, where the world became a smaller place which is a beautiful ball of colour and full of life.

In this period of jet era, oblivion and backwardness elude many. Although we know the value of education in our life and that it is a must for every child on earth, be it rich or poor. Yet there are many people who cannot afford education due to their limited resources or lack of knowledge as to how the education will bring dynamism in the lives of their children. Penury of illiteracy is greater than economic poverty.

As children are future adults of the society, care has to be taken for their proper up-bringing, education, nutritious food, excursions, sports and motivation among other things. However, children belonging to the poor and downtrodden classes of the society are deprived of these opportunities.

Lack of quality education amongst the under-privileged, is the main ailment which is plaguing the nation and prevents all-round progress. We, at Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Society, Faridabad (SaiDham Foundation) genuinely believe that the education would bring in all-round improvement in earning, living, health, better work force and realization to contain families that would also sort out the problem of unmanageable growth of population.

Touched by the plight of poor children from neighbouring clusters, loitering aimlessly around our campus, it occurred to us that these children needed an opportunity to be educated along with some incentive to motivate them to do so. We, therefore, in April 2004, established ‘Shirdi Sai Baba School’ with 67 students for providing free education to poor children with food, clothing, study material and health care. The efforts to motivate bore fruit and the number of children has since risen to 1400+ out of which over 45% are girls.

In this context we visualized a holistic system of education under which besides school fees, study materials, food, clothing, health care and educational tours are made absolutely free and that the education is provided on modern gadgets and computer education from class II onwards in state-of the-art five computer labs.

Replica of the School in village Niswara, Dist Mahoba, Bundelkhand UP

With the aim of making the so far marginalized section of the society become self-reliant and to enable them to become a partner in the progress of the country we have set up replica of Shirdi Sai Baba School on five acres of land in village Niswara, Dist Mahoba in the Backward area of Bunelkhand in UP to feed and educate needy children. The efforts to motivate bore fruit and the number of children has since risen to 600+ out of which over 45% are girls and are enjoying high quality free education with food, clothing, study material and health care.

The argument for such a unique education as visualized by us at SaiDham Foundation is meant to mainstream the children coming from the poor and under-privileged sections of the society living in slums and backward areas as also to curb the social evil of child labour.

The aim of SaiDham Foundation is to give absolutely free and quality education, nutritious food and appropriate healthcare to the maximum number of children from financially weaker section of the society.

In view of the inability of poor people living in the urban slum and backward areas of the country to enroll their children in schools for free education with food, clothing, study material and health care without any charge or fee, it becomes moral duty of the better-offs of the society to help such children with necessary support that would help them stand on their feet.

A healthy mind stays in a healthy body. Unless our children have proper nutrition and health care we cannot expect them to perform well in studies. We believe that every child should have access to wholesome food, good education, appropriate health care and environment. Unless we take children education in this holistic way achievement of school education will yield little fruit.

Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: the means because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one’s awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behaviour to understanding one’s rights – and in the process help him/her evolve as a better citizen.

Today, 8 million children in India are out of school – surrounded by poverty, illness and despair; they are fighting a daily battle for their survival.
